The gateway to Amish Country starts on the western portion of Tuscarawas county, Ohio along the I-77 "gateway to Amish country" corridor of communities including Baltic, Bolivar, Dundee, Strasburg, & Sugarceek and moves westward toward Coshocton and Holmes county, Ohio into the Heart of Amish country in Ohio.
Welcome to the Official Site of the Village of Sugarcreek. Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscarawas County, our Ohio town is proud to trace its heritage back to our numerous Swiss and German settlers. Hence, we’ve been known not only as a part of Ohio’s Amish Country, but also as the “Little Switzerland of Ohio.”
The center was established in 1981 as the Mennonite Information Center. In 1989 the current facility was built on County Road 77 to adequately present the Behalt Cyclorama and provide the adequate support space for the Bookstore and Gift Shop. In 2002, the center officially adopted the present name to more accurately reflect our community and mission.
